Throughout Sunday, visitors to the fair can enjoy a performance by artist Sigrid Viir at Temnikova & Kasela’s Gallery stand. The performance is a part of a project which was presented at her latest solo exhibition “Purpose of the Universe and the Flickering Funnel”.

 

As part of the exhibition, during a certain period of time the gallery walls were repeatedly painted in varying colours, making visible the image of the artist as a worker.  The labouring artist is a position that mostly remains invisible and rarely enters the consciousness of the audience who is left to engage with the final result – finished, retouched and often sterile. With this performance, Sigrid Viir reminds the viewer that art is a process, not just the outcome.
