Originally from Seattle, photographer Andrew Miksys has a master’s degree from Louisiana University. In 1995, he visited Vilnius for the first time, which now has been his home for the last 15 years. He has won grants from various funds, including the Guggenheim Foundation, Fulbright and the Aaron Siskind Foundation. His photographs have been published in the New Yorker, TIME, BuzzFeed and VICE. His book, DISKO, was published in 2013; it documented young Lithuanians partying in village discos. The book received wide international acclaim, but also sparked debates in the Lithuanian press on national identity. This exposition features a selection from that same collection.
